Our Nutrition program offers a healthy after school snack and dinner in the school year and breakfast, lunch and snack in the summer to every club member. The program received USDA’s 2010 Western Region Summer Sunshine Award for Increasing Fruit and Vegetable Consumption. Our summer program fed over 59,000 meals and snacks in just 54 days! We operate through The State of Idaho’s Simplified Summer Food program. We are our own sponsor in this program which allows us to choose your own menus as long as they are in compliance with the regulations set by the USDA. Our menus serve mainly fresh foods, many are local and organic.... » More

The IHS's STAR Fund (Save The Animal Rescue) provides immediate medical care for critically ill or injured homeless pets that arrive at the shelter. The Fund also helps the pets of families who are otherwise not able to pay for urgently needed vet care for their pets. It is a safety net that prevents pets from being relinquished to the shelter due to medical concerns by supporting standardized, income-based, sliding-scale fees to these pet owners at the IHS Medical Center. The IHS Veterinary Medical Center cares for the medical needs of over 13,000 shelter pets each year and many thousands of community animals as well.
